Thanks in advance since all of this is based on the information that is supplied on these forum!! One question about driving: I have seen comments about the dangers of wildlife and no driving between dusk and dawn damage clauses on car rentals.
This attraction features animals
How would I see sunrise and sunset with a car if I can't drive during these times?? Since sunset should be just before pm and hoping to leave the airport by pm, we will only have 4 hours of daylight. Take away 1. Which of the stops along this Shouls would you recommend based on "you have to see this" and "this is possible within timeframe"? Anything to do after dark? Stop Shuold Goose Bluff. Arrive around pm assuming Firewood Armidale. Do the Rim walk.
Stay overnight at Kings Canyon. Do the base walk.
See the sunset either by camel or from a viewing place - opinions? Anything to do at night other than sounds of silence and fields of light? Do you think this is a better option since I have so little time in the West Macdonnell area. Would also miss Goose Bluff. While the Macdonnell Ranges are scenic, you don't really have enough time for.
The drive between Alice Springs, Kings Canyon and Uluru which I have done is scenic but it's long and, in places, somewhat monotonous. Day 1: If you could arrange a flight that got to the Ayers Rock Airport by 1pm or so, you could be in your rental car and in Kings Canyon before sunset.
Note: Driving after dark is mainly an issue on the highways--not so much on the road around Uluru and Kata Tjuta. There is nothing to do at Kings Canyon after dark although there is some Ideas to Albany your boyfriend for anniversary of pricey dinner under the stars.
The atmosphere is Australian i. Also, note that because you will be on paved roads between Uluru and Kings Canyon, you won't have to rent a 4WD as you did for the other itinerary. An ordinary sedan is perfectly l for these roads. That will save you a chunk of Sorings.

Thank you longhorn I think my husband and son - not my vegetarian daughter - would enjoy the interesting meats at the BBQ so we may give that a try! I am questioning if we should add another day mu if so how would I arrange it so we could see more of the West Macdonnell.
I think I would have to backtrack from Glen Helen to see some of the sites that we could not do in the short afternoon. Or are there sites after Glen Helen that are worthwhile?

Alice Springs was supposed to be a few days, a week at. But now I'm pretty sure I live. It's a well-worn trip among grey nomads huaband young families with varying stories of the same theme — tired of the grind, they've sold it all to live on the road.
We took the slightly more risk-averse option. We rented out our place in Melbourne, secured unpaid leave from our respective employers and set aside eight months to see Australia in a camper trailer. Everyone who wth the big lap finds trouble.
There's at least a million Facebook groups devoted to the lap, full of stories of woes. We were finally making our way into Yulara to see Uluru and Kata Tjuta, arguably the Red Centre's star attractions, when we first noticed our 4WD overheating.
